The Truth Behind Nick Cannon's Complicated Love Life

Nick Cannon has been spewing his seeds across America for years now and his fans have told him to slow down. What’s funny is that he has also told himself to calm down, the world now knows how fertile you are. The only question remains why he continues to give birth without marrying the mothers of his children. Does he have a commitment issue? Is it childhood trauma? Is it past relationship trauma? Or is Nick Cannon just a deadbeat cheat?

This is the truth behind Nick Cannon’s complicated relationships and why he’s choosing to populate the Earth.

Nick Cannon is a comedian, television host, actor and rapper. He has been hosting Wild n Out for the longest time now, being one of the very few people keeping black television thriving. He was part of a gang as a teenager but dropped the affiliations after losing a close friend. When Nick closed that chapter of his life, he decided to build his talents and got his first break as a stand up comedian on his father’s public access TV program.

Nick Cannon got into rapping in 1999 and joined a group called Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad and they opened for the likes of Will Smith and Montell Jordan. His music career was going well, so Jive Records offered him a deal in 2001. He started his first record label in 2005 and canceled it in 2009 to start another one.

Nick’s first public relationship was with Christina Milian in 2003 when they met on the set of the rom com, Love Don’t Cost A Thing. They started developing feelings for each other during the shoot but didn’t start dating until they had wrapped up the movie. Nick and Christina broke up in 2005, after he said she was his best friend. After the break up, Christina Milian released a breakup anthem titled Gonna Tell Everybody.

Fans were speculating that she was calling Nick out for cheating on her as she also revealed in an interview that during their relationship, she saw a bunch of incriminating messages on Nick’s phone. Not only did Nick come out to deny the allegations, he also denied ever being in a relationship with the actress. In his words, “I wasn't cheating. You got to be in a relationship to cheat. If I am careless enough to allow myself to get caught, then that means I wanted to get caught. The word is 'careless.' You know what careless means? 'I could care less.' I was at an age where I didn't care.”

In essence, he was claiming that he was too young to be in a committed relationship with Christina Milian, so it was okay for him to cheat and get caught, since that was what he wanted anyways.

After his relationship with Christina ended, Nick started looking at Kim Kardashian in 2006. She was still with Ray J at the time but when they broke up, Nick Cannon started actively pursuing Kim. The socialite eventually agreed to date him but by 2007, they broke up. Nick claims that Kim Kardashian broke his heart but in January 2007, the same month he broke up with Kim, he met and started dating Selita Ebanks.

Selita Ebanks was a Victoria’s Secret model and her first high profile relationship was with Nick Cannon. They met at a party in February of 2007 and what was once a little spark soon turned into a full blown fire of love. Nick was over the moon dating Selita, claiming that she fixed him and made him no longer want to be a player. According to him, “she changed me. I’m no longer a player. She changed everything”. Three months into the relationship, Nick went out of his way to propose to Selita with a 12 karat diamond ring, flashing, “Selita will you marry me?” on a jumbotron. Yes you heard that right, three months into the relationship.

Of course everyone was happy for them. But as quickly as the relationship started, it ended. Four months after Selita revealed some of their engagement plans, the engagement was called off. When she was asked why, she claimed that it was because they were both young and marriage wasn’t something they were ready for yet.

But wasn’t that something they discussed before going ahead with the magnanimous proposal? Their representatives claimed they wanted to take a break to focus on their career, but is that all there is to the story?

After his relationship with Selita ended, dating rumors between Nick and Mariah Carey started erupting. The pair first met in 2005 at the Teens Choice Award when Nick presented Mariah with the award for the choice RnB song. Before getting onstage to present the award, Nick had a brief encounter with Mariah Carey backstage where she approached him and told him that she hears all the nice things he says about her in interviews. He then asked her to allow those things to come true, which he claimed made her float.

Three years down the line, in April 2008, Mariah Carey cast Nick Cannon as her love interest in the music video for Bye Bye. The chemistry they shared in that video made people question if they had an off screen romance, which the RnB singer denied. But later that month, they were seen together in the club for Da Brat’s 34th birthday and they were in – questionable positions.

How could they deny dating with all the glaring evidence?

In May 2008, one of Nick Cannon’s family members revealed that Nick and Mariah tied the knot that month, barely two months into dating and Nick called to tell the family after it had happened. Shortly after the family member revealed the news, Nick and Mariah came out to confirm the rumor and shared pictures of the private wedding that was held in Mariah’s Bahamas home. To celebrate their union. Nick rented out the Six Flag Magic Mountain for them and their friends. Mariah claimed that she did not know a love like that existed in the cards for her and Nick claimed that she was beautiful on the inside and outside.

They made their first public appearance as a couple at the TIME 100 Gala in New York with Mariah Carey flashing her 17 carat wedding ring.

Nick Cannon got married to Mariah Carey barely a year after ending things with Selita Ebanks. In fact, it was seven months after the relationship. The excuse was they wanted to focus on their career. But if marriage was going to make them not focus on their careers, how come Nick Cannon got married seven months later?

Mariah Carey shared that they hid the relationship because they didn’t want people questioning them and asking if they knew what they were doing. By July of 2009, they were already making plans to start a family but said they wanted to establish some things first before going ahead. Their relationship was filled with a lot of PDA and if you don’t know what that means, it is a public display of affection.

Whether it was at an award show or when Nick was hosting America’s Got Talent, they were always showing up for each other, which was truly all that mattered in that moment. Then rumors of Mariah Carey being pregnant in 2010 started after she pulled out of starring in a Tyler Perry Movie. They shut down the rumors as quickly as they shut down their dating rumors but in October of that same year, the singer revealed that she was indeed pregnant. In December, they revealed that they were expecting twins and on April 30, 2011, they welcomed their babies.

It was the first time Nick Cannon was welcoming children into the world but that was going to be far from being the last.

By 2014, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon started to pass through hard times in their relationship and they separated, but still kept it a secret. An insider revealed that while Carey stayed home with the twins, Nick was hotel hopping. When the rumors of their rocky marriage first broke out, they denied it, as usual. By December of 2014, Nick Cannon finally confirmed the rumors of their separation and said they would remain best friends no matter what.

While still processing their divorce, Nick revealed in 2016 that he wasn’t sure he was going to get married again. He said marriage was 50/50 and if you did it once and failed, then there’s no point in doing it again. Although that is questionable advice, Nick Cannon actually stuck to it but that did not stop him from dating women and giving birth to more children.

His divorce from Mariah Carey was finalized in November 2016 and it got messy when it got to the issue of custody and sharing property. But the pair continue to co parent their twins, which takes us to his next relationship.

After the divorce was finalized, Nick Cannon was sighted with Jessica White in 2016. Their relationship didn’t make it out of 2016 though there is no bad blood between them. They didn’t share any reason in particular for their breakup, but both of them remained close friends, quite similar to how he has remained friends with all of his exes. In 2020, Jessica White got pregnant for the TV host and had a miscarriage, even if they were not together.

After his short lived relationship with Jessica White ended, Nick Cannon got into an on and off relationship with Brittany Bell. We will go off on a limb here and say his relationship with Brittany Bell may have contributed to his breakup with Mariah Carey and here is why. Nick met Brittany in 2015, when his marriage with Mariah Carey was on the rocks. Brittany gave birth to their first child together in February 2017, barely three months after Nick had finalized his divorce with Mariah Carey.

What are we getting from this? Yeah, hold that thought and we will come back to it.

In December 2020, Brittany gave birth to her second child with Nick and the third one came in September 2022.

During the time that Brittany was making babies with him, Nick Cannon was also making babies with and dating Abby De La Rosa. Nobody really knows when Nick started dating Abby, but she had her first set of twins with him in June 2021 and November 2022. Nick claimed that they were in an open relationship and even if Abby said the same, she had a different way of viewing it. Abby said she was enjoying her relationship with Nick, but she knew he wasn’t her forever person. She said she was looking at having a monogamous relationship in the future.

Now, get this. If she preferred monogamous relationships, why do you think she was in an open relationship with Nick? Abby also said she was friends with one NIck’s baby mama, why? Is there love for Nick so deep that it’s seeping into their relationships? It seemed like Abby was only in an open relationship because she was scared of not being able to date Nick, not because it was something she enjoyed.

During the open relationship phase with Abby, Nick also dated Alyssa Scott, a model that appeared on Wild n Out in 2019 when he was still hosting. She had her first child with him in December 2021 and the boy died, bless his heart. Then they had a second child in December 2022, around the same time Abby and Brittany were also having his babies.

Nick Cannon also dated Bre Tiesi whom he met in 2013 on Wild n Out, and he was still married to Mariah Carey. They had an off and on relationship until she got married to someone else in 2018. After her divorce was finalized in 2021, she got back together with Nick Cannon. They had their first child together in June 2022. Three months after Bre gave birth to their kid, LaNisha Cole also gave birth to a child for Nick Cannon and it came as a shock to fans because nobody knew she was pregnant until she gave birth.

Nick Cannon suddenly became protective of LaNisha and asked people to allow her to revel in the beauty of motherhood.

Let’s go back to the thought you have been holding.

Before Nick Cannon revealed that he wasn’t made for monogamous relationships, looking at the time between his breakups and moving on to the next person, it almost happened instantaneously. The same month he broke up with Kim Kardashian was the same month he got with Selita Ebanks. Christina Milian accused him of cheating but he shut it down by claiming to be nonchalant, but that should have served as a warning to all the women that got with him.

It gets even more sad when you realize that he broke off his engagement with Selita because he wanted to focus on his career and got married five months later to Mariah Carey. When he shared his view on how he didn’t like monogamy, he was asked why he then went ahead to marry Mariah Carey. He claimed that it was because it was Mariah Carey, who wouldn’t want to get married to her? If we are being real, Nick Cannon married Mariah Carey so he could tick off an imaginary box on the list of cool things he did in his lifetime.

Nick met Bre Tiesi in 2013 and a year later in 2014, his marriage with Mariah Carey became rocky. Although they never revealed the reason, it’s evident that it’s because another woman stepped into the picture. The dots are literally connecting themselves right now.

Out of all his partners, Christina Milian was the only one that called him out on his infidelity and he embarrassed her in turn.

Nick Cannon talked to the Shade Room and when he was asked why he didn't want to commit to at least one of his baby mamas, he said he didn’t have the bandwidth for a relationship. He claims to still love Mariah Carey, Bre Tiesi, Abby De La Rosa, LaNisha Cole, Alyssa Scott and Brittany Bell, so committing to one would be a disservice to the others.

If you think the statement above sounds cute, I'll have to stop you. Nick refusing to commit but claiming he loves the mothers of his children is hypocritical. When he was with these women, he cheated on them before eventually realizing he wasn’t cut out for a monogamous relationship. Now you may think he’s somebody that knows what he wants, but you’ll be very wrong. Nick Cannon claims that monogamy is wrong as it can lead to selfishness and ownership but at the same time, he will withdraw financial support from his baby mamas if they decide to date another man.

Is that also not ownership? It’s a worse form of ownership because he’s tying down the women with babies, spilling his seeds everywhere but not allowing them to meet other people. He’s also going to stop providing for his children when he’s no longer able to benefit sexually from their mothers, which means he thinks there’s a logical reason to be a deadbeat dad.

Do your children stop being your children when you no longer have access to their mother? Then wouldn’t it be better to give the mother 100% custody if you are going to leave when she decides to move on with her life?

In all of his relationships, it has always seemed like the connection has been one-sided and Nick has successfully convinced these women that he’s doing them a favor being with them and let us explain.

In an interview, Nick was asked about his process of choosing the women that give birth for him. He started by claiming he was a germ freak, so he would first sleep with them wearing two condoms before things got serious. When they start sleeping over at each other’s houses and showering together, a level of trust has been built for him, so he would decide to go raw and make them his baby mamas.

In all of this, Nick didn’t mention anything about building a genuine connection with the mothers of his children. It appears that when these women first start dating him, they have to perform constantly until he decides that they are good enough for him. Afterwards, he will start having raw sex with them and they will feel like this is the height of commitment from Nick, which will make them think it’s okay to have children for him.

If they claim that they have a genuine connection with Nick, why is it okay for him to make unreasonable rules for them like they can’t date anyone except him?

These women may be celebrities, but it makes no sense to take 100% responsibility for a child whose father is still alive and getting with whoever he likes. It feels like a hostage situation and the only reason he can do things like this is because some people would defend his reasons. If Nick Cannon expects complete faithfulness from women he’s not dating, then he needs to put a ring on all their fingers and zip his pants up, for crying out loud.

Nick Cannon’s major reason for not supporting his baby mamas if they decide to move on is that he doesn’t want them to be with him just for the money. But most of these women are celebrities too and even if they don’t make as much as Nick, they are able to support themselves financially with or without his help.

So, let us help him adjust his fears.

Nick Cannon is a rich man who gets with women for the sole purpose of having children and financially controlling them while tricking them into believing that they have a connection with him. The only reason he does these things is because he can and nobody is holding him accountable.
