My Role:
I worked with a cybersecurity-based SaaS application that can track the threats and risks of a cybersecurity engineering process. Developed a complex modeling view using Angular, HTML, Vanilla JS, and Canvas to enable users to draw a product model using drag-and-drop functionality. Updated and implemented backend features deployed on both monolithic and microservice platforms.
Background
In a cyber-physical system, cybersecurity is no longer a software engineering task - it requires systems engineering. The right hardware needs to be matched with the right software via the right interface. The system design must be planned before the first line of code is written.
Key Aspects of CSMS:
Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks in automotive systems. This includes potential threats to the vehicle's software, hardware, and network communications.
Compliance: Ensuring that the vehicle and its components comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as ISO/SAE 21434, which provides guidelines for cybersecurity engineering in road vehicles.
Incident Response: Developing and maintaining processes for detecting, reporting, and responding to cybersecurity incidents. This ensures that vulnerabilities are addressed promptly to minimize potential damage.
Continuous Monitoring: Implementing ongoing monitoring of vehicle systems to detect and respond to new threats and vulnerabilities. This includes over-the-air (OTA) updates to address security issues.
Supplier Management: Ensuring that all suppliers involved in the vehicle's production adhere to the necessary cybersecurity standards. This includes auditing and assessing the cybersecurity practices of third-party vendors.
Awareness and Training: Providing training and resources to all stakeholders involved in the vehicle's lifecycle to ensure they understand cybersecurity risks and best practices.
