Orthogonal Explainer Video Project

Overview Orthogonal gives AI agents access to 60+ providers and 1,000+ API endpoints through one account, one key, and one balance. Its tools cover search, scraping, enrichment, and live data, and developers connect through an API, MCP server, or CLI. The company had just raised a seed round led by Pantera Capital and needed a video that explained the product fast.

The Challenge Orthogonal is infrastructure. There's no interface to show off and no single feature to point at. Its value is what disappears: the provider signups, the scattered API keys, the separate billing. The video had to make that absence feel tangible to developers and founders who already know the pain, without drowning them in technical detail.

Approach I built the story around contrast. It opens with the mess, where every tool needs its own account, key, and invoice. Then Orthogonal enters as a single gateway, and the video follows the flow the product promises: an agent describes a task, finds the right API, checks the price, and makes the call.

Design decisions followed from that:

Abstract made visual: Providers become nodes that collapse into one connection, so the "one key" idea lands in seconds.

Developer-native look: Clean UI-style motion, code-inspired details, and a restrained palette matched the brand's technical credibility.

Pacing for a skeptical audience: Short beats, one idea per scene, and kinetic typography to carry the key claims (no monthly subscription, pay per call, prices shown before you call).

Execution I handled the project end to end: script, storyboard, motion design, animation in After Effects, and sound. Visuals were built to be consistent with Orthogonal's brand so the video works on the homepage, in social posts, and in investor and customer outreach.

Outcome Orthogonal now has a clear, shareable asset that explains its product in under a minute, replacing a long technical explanation with a visual one.
