Daily Political News Highlights on TikTok

I run a TikTok channel (@truthjasonlee) focused on political news highlights, posting 2-3 times per day. The format is built for speed and consistency: screen capture carousels pulling the key moments from Fox News broadcasts, packaged into short-form content for a mobile-first audience.

How the Format Evolved

I started posting regularly on TikTok in early 2025, mostly screen captures with commentary. The content was there, but the format wasn't connecting. Views were low, and the posts weren't gaining traction.
In January 2026, after TikTok's ownership transition, I went back to the drawing board. I researched what was actually working on the platform and discovered that screen cap carousels consistently outperformed other formats for news content. I pivoted to that format immediately.
The difference was clear. The carousel format gave each post more surface area, kept viewers swiping, and fit how people actually consume news on TikTok. That one format shift turned a stalled channel into a consistent daily operation.

The Workflow

Each post follows a tight process:
Screen capture key moments and headlines from Fox News broadcasts
Pull out the highlights that matter most
Crop and clean up images using Samsung's built-in photo editor
Arrange screenshots into a carousel format
Add editorial commentary through captions
Layer in music to set the tone
Publish 2-3 times daily

The Results

The channel has grown to over 1,000 followers and 25,000+ likes organically, with no paid promotion. Some early posts hit strong view counts. The numbers have leveled off since, but the channel still pulls decent, consistent views, which is what matters for a daily news format.

What This Demonstrates

This project shows a few things that translate directly to client work:
Format adaptation — I hit a wall, researched what was working, and pivoted. That's the difference between posting and strategizing.
Platform-native thinking — building content specifically for how TikTok's audience consumes information
Daily execution — maintaining a 2-3x/day posting cadence without dropping quality
Content curation — knowing which stories to highlight and which to skip
AI-assisted strategy — using tools like Gemini to research platform trends and inform creative decisions
