PROJECT OVERVIEW
A self-initiated equipment rental concept that turns a booking conflict into a clear next step. The responsive demo shows how availability rules, useful error messages and checked alternatives can work together in a booking flow.
THE CHALLENGE
Rental availability includes more than paid rental days. Equipment needs a delivery day before the rental and a return-check day afterward. The interface needs to explain those buffers, identify conflicts and help visitors recover without starting again.
MY ROLE
I led project management and business review: setting the scope, reviewing booking rules and directing the AI-assisted workflow. AI tools assisted with implementation, verification and visual production. This project reflects my direction and review of that process.
WHAT THE DEMO DELIVERS
• Date validation and conflict checks that include delivery and return buffers.
• Available alternative equipment while preserving the requested dates.
• Transparent pricing: rental days and delivery shown separately.
• Simulated reservation confirmation with availability checked again.
The staged walkthrough recreates a verified scenario: June 10–12 conflicts for Field Camera 01. Field Camera 02 is available for the same dates at $88 before tax. Confirmation creates SIM-4 in the page session.
IMPLEMENTATION + PRESENTATION
React and TypeScript manage the interface and session state within an Astro site. For the case video, I directed high-resolution local HTML/CSS recreations of the verified workflow states, paired with an AI-generated, upscaled motion poster and original synthesized background music. The UI sequence is explicitly labeled as a staged concept demonstration; it is not a continuous recording of the live application.
PROJECT BOUNDARIES
Concept project with synthetic equipment, prices and reservations. State lasts only in the current page session; there is no persistent database, shared inventory, real order or payment. This is not client work, and no customer, revenue or conversion results are claimed.
Verification evidence — 29 October 2026
During a cloud Chrome browser check on 29 October 2026, the preset Camera 01 request was correctly blocked. Switching to Camera 02 preserved the dates and displayed an $88 pre-tax quote: two rental days at $35 plus $18 delivery.
Confirmation created a simulated reservation and disabled repeat confirmation for the occupied slot. Cancellation released the equipment and its buffers. Additional checks covered recovery through suggested dates, buffer-only overlap, invalid equal start and end dates, and reset to the initial state.
These checks verify the specified workflows, not comprehensive production readiness.
STAGED VIDEO WALKTHROUGH
A staged concept demonstration of conflict detection, buffer-aware availability, alternative equipment, transparent pricing and simulated confirmation. UI states are recreated in local HTML/CSS for video clarity. Synthetic data; session-only state.
