Overview 🔎

🧩️ How does the game work? Open your phone, scan the QR code and the Augmented Reality Game appear. Find the virus around you that you cannot see in real life. Look around and once you find those pesky viruses, tap on them before the time is over.

My inspiration & Solution 🤝

✨ My inspiration? The virus does not end. We just stop caring. People are getting tired of the virus. At first, we were waiting for an end date but after two years, our impatience is beyond measure. We do not know if it will ever end or if it is something we have to learn to live with. Will we ever return to the same life as before? I created this first-person Augmented Reality game to show that the virus is still here around us and while we can’t “see it” in real life we can view it through a mobile device.

Since most of us are angry with the virus, why not get our aggressions out by destroying them?  AR seemed to be the perfect medium to capture this idea!

Goals/Requirements: • Model 3D Assets • Code the Augmented Reality Game • Design the Interface and Experience

Process 🛣

💻 How I built it? Anti-Covid was created with Spark AR and the 3D Assets on Cinema 4D. I first created it.

Entire process include: Created the 3D Virus on Cinema 4D - Coded on Spark AR the position and rotation of the assets - Interaction (when it hits the target, it is adding in the score and the virus disappear) - UI (font, the main page, the “You Win” and “Game Over” page) - Sound

Challenges 💥

It was the first time I was creating a project in Augmented Reality. My biggest challenge was coding the UI. Because the “You Win” Page would appear when the game starts. Therefore, I had to change the layer and add the Main Page to hide the “You Win” page.

I followed Louise during the process of her work. She is the first student at Loyola Marymount University to present an Augmented Reality project as her senior thesis. Louise worked hard and you know that for every problem on the way, she would find a solution.

This project is cute and epic. It was very smart to use AR to show that the virus is still around us. Great job Louise !🗣

Takeaways 📣

During this project, I learned a lot about Augmented Reality since it was my first time, how to use the blueprints, add 3D assets into the project and sound. I learned that creating a piece which would make people smile, have fun and also be aware of the situation happening in the world. Especially since now the virus.
