The Problem
Spotify needed a premium showcase for digital campaigns.
The challenge was to communicate Spotify's discover and stream experience in a format that felt immediate, on-brand, and visually compelling without resorting to generic screen recordings or static mockups. The ad needed to stop a scrolling thumb in its tracks.
Scroll-stopping in under 3 seconds, Social feeds demand attention within the first few frames. A static screenshot simply wouldn't cut through the noise.
On-brand, every frame, Spotify's identity, the green, the type, the movement, had to feel native, not forced. Every transition needed intention.
The Approach
Using After Effects, a full UI walkthrough was designed and animated, combining smooth microinteractions, branded motion graphics, and cinematic transitions to bring the app to life. Premiere Pro handled final pacing, color grading, and rhythm, ensuring every frame felt intentional and on-brand.
Storyboarded the key Spotify screens: discovery feed, artist profile, and now playing view, three moments that tell the full story.
Designed microinteractions for each UI element, cards sliding in, track names fading up, progress bars animating in real time.
Built cinematic transitions between screens using motion blur and scale shifts to create physical momentum.

1. ODESZA · Indie Electronic / Future Bass Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight forged one of electronic music's most cinematic sounds, lush textures layered over pounding live percussion. 8.2M monthly listeners. Featured track: How We Stay from The Last Goodbye.
2. Illenium · Melodic Dubstep / Future Bass Nick Miller built an empire on emotionally raw drops and soaring vocal hooks, with crossover appeal spanning festival stages to arena tours. 6.7M monthly listeners. Featured track: Nightlight.
3. Kasbo · Indie Electronic / Chillwave Carl Garsbo's productions float somewhere between introspective bedroom pop and dancefloor-ready electronica, a nuanced, textured sound that closes the spot perfectly. 1.4M monthly listeners.
The Result
A premium product ad built for social.
The final cut clocks in at under 30 seconds, purposefully paced, with each beat of the animation tied to the featured track's rhythm. Clean from the first frame to the last, it communicates Spotify's value without a single word of on-screen copy.
The motion piece was delivered in three aspect ratios (9:16 for Stories, 1:1 for feed, 16:9 for pre-roll) and two color variants, dark mode and Spotify's signature full bleed green, allowing the client to A/B test across digital campaigns
