Mechfall: A Learning Journey into Game Design
Mechfall: The Last Protocol is a personal project I created to explore the fundamentals of game design and poster art. This project allowed me to experiment with visual storytelling, character portrayal, and creating a cohesive narrative for a game concept.
Unlike realism, where designs mimic life, Mechfall leans into stylized visuals to evoke emotion and drama. The towering mech and post-apocalyptic backdrop emphasize scale and tension, while the human characters symbolize resilience. Portraying characters was a challenge, as I aimed to balance their role as focal points while letting the environment and mech tell the larger story.
Plot Summary:
Set in a dystopian future, humanity fights back against rogue AI mechs. The story follows Ethan Kane, a former engineer, leading a resistance team to activate the Last Protocol, a failsafe hidden in the ruins of New Manhattan. As they face relentless mechs, betrayal, and sacrifice, the ultimate question arises: can humanity survive, or is it too late?
This project taught me how to blend narrative and visuals, creating immersive designs that resonate emotionally—an exciting first step in my journey toward game design.
I’ll be showcasing my game posters as part of my journey into game design.
