Iliria: How I Built a Complete Hotel Operating System with an AI Concierge

Iliria is a complete operating system for hotels and resorts, built for the Albanian market first. It replaces the six or more separate tools a hotel normally juggles with one connected system.
I built it end to end: the master calendar, the channel manager, a single inbox for every messaging app, an AI concierge, restaurant and spa point of sale, invoicing, expenses with receipt scanning, housekeeping, events and weddings, and an assistant the owner can ask questions.

The Problem

Hotels run on a bookings tool, a channel manager, a separate inbox for each messaging app, a restaurant till, spreadsheets for invoices and paper for housekeeping. None of them talk to each other. Staff retype the same details again and again, guests wait for replies, and the owner cannot see the whole picture.

One system for the whole hotel

Everything is connected, so a booking made once appears everywhere it matters: on the calendar, in the guest's messages, on the invoice and on the housekeeping list.

The master calendar

A drag and drop calendar shows every room, night by night. Bookings are colour coded by source (booking sites, website, phone, WhatsApp, Instagram, walk-in and more). Staff can move a booking to another room, stretch a stay by dragging its edge and see prices and availability change instantly. The channel manager keeps booking sites in sync.

Every guest message in one inbox

Guests message on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or the website chat. All of it lands in one unified inbox, sorted into Active, Needs you and AI handling.
An AI concierge answers the routine questions on its own. When a guest needs a person, the conversation is handed to staff. Every action is recorded.

Ask the hotel

The owner can ask questions in plain language, such as how the week went or which rooms are not ready, and get answers drawn from the hotel's own data. The agent reads real rates, bookings and housekeeping, performs actions within the user's permissions and asks for confirmation before anything risky.

Running the day

Housekeeping: a board showing every room's status, what is in progress and what is ready before the guest arrives
Point of sale: restaurant and spa orders that post straight to the room bill
Reports: revenue, occupancy and daily trends in one place
Events and weddings: venues, inquiries and a printable event order
Also: group bookings, rate plans, lost and found, quality audits, a beach map and shift handover

The bug my tests caught

The automated tests found a serious flaw: an event inquiry could be saved with a venue that belonged to a different hotel. In a system serving many hotels, that is a data leak waiting to happen.
I fixed it at the root. Now every save checks that every ID referenced actually belongs to the right hotel, on every path, not just the one that was tested. The rule is part of the checklist for every new feature.

Built to be trusted

Role-based access, so each person sees only what they need
A full audit log written in plain language, covering well over a hundred kinds of action
A test suite that runs after every change, including language checks and design checks
Multi-language: Albanian first, with English alongside
Honest about its limits: the demo fiscal codes have no legal value, and real fiscalization needs the hotel's own certificate with a certified provider.

Stack and result

Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger integrations, an AI layer for guests and owners, scheduled sync jobs, deployed on Vercel.
The result is a working, multi-language hotel platform you can try with one click, using a fictional resort so nothing real is exposed.
