Research

We conducted in-depth user research through surveys, interviews, and secondary analysis to understand how citizens—especially those from semi-urban and rural areas—interact with the legal system. Key findings revealed confusion, fear of legal jargon, and lack of accessible legal support. This research shaped our problem statement and highlighted the need for a simplified, trustworthy digital legal companion.

Design

Following a human-centered design approach, we created intuitive user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma. Special attention was given to visual hierarchy, vernacular language options, and accessibility. Emotional design principles were used to build user trust, and each screen was tested for clarity and usability.

Development

While this project focuses on the UX case study, the prototype was designed to be developer-friendly with clean navigation logic, responsive layouts, and modular components. The goal was to ensure seamless integration with backend legal databases and future-ready features like chatbot support, document uploads, and real-time case tracking.

Concept

LawMitra was conceptualized as a bridge between ordinary citizens and the complex world of law. The idea was to design an AI-assisted, user-friendly platform that provides basic legal guidance, step-by-step process support, and access to verified legal professionals—making the justice system more approachable and transparent for everyone.
