Paint : Poison Alert For Dogs?
Painting always aims at giving freshness and newness , but it also sometimes is not a very good option when you are a pet lover , especially dogs , because they are driven by their sense of smell , wanting to get close to it. And there is always an added concern of the mess your dog can make by coming in contact with Paints.
Paints contain toxic chemicals called Volatile Organic Compounds which are a group of
Carcinogens ,i.e. ,cancer causing compounds. Problematic paints include those containing
Polyurethane ,Formaldehyde ,Ammonia ,Acetone ,Fungicides .The most harmful ones are the Lead based paints .Not only are these toxic when consumed but they also emit fumes which could be equally dangerous for the dogs .Some of the common signs that your dog have come in contact with the paints include : Irritation to skin ,eyes ; difficulty breathing ; diarrhea ; tremors ; etc. A single ingestion of lead based paints can lead to poisoning . Most paints are not branded as being Pet-Friendly ;however by looking at the ingredients one can make a better decision.
Dog owners should choose paint products labeled as “No VOC” or “Low VOC”. Also look for
paints that are toxins free or free of heavy metals like lead. Seeing the hazardous outcomes, the dog owners should take utmost care when their pets are around any kind of paint products .In case their dogs by any chance come in contact with the products and show any kind of weird behavior or any of the possible symptoms just make sure to take them to the vet .If you are not sure which paint to use or how to properly protect your dog ,make sure to always contact a professional .Afterall as a Dog Lover it is always our responsibility to love them unconditionally and to take great care of them....
