The Table Nobody Could Read: a mobile rendering defect, found and fixed
Most of this site's visitors arrive on phones — and on a phone, its data page was quietly broken.
Our render lab renders every page we audit at real phone sizes (360px, 390px, 412px, and desktop) and measures what actually fits. On the Pulse page, the "ZIP / Permits issued" table measured 640 CSS pixels wide on a 360-pixel phone: roughly 300 pixels of the table — including the permit counts, the entire point of the page — sat off-screen, reachable only by a sideways swipe most visitors never make.
The fix: below 560px the table now stacks as labeled cards, one ZIP per card, every number on-screen. Then the part most audits skip — we re-rendered and verified: 0 overflowing elements, 0 clipped content, on every viewport. The desktop page was untouched and still passes.
This is the whole service in miniature: find it at the size your customers use, fix it, then prove the fix. (Site audited: our own production site, trypermitintel.com — we publish our own defects before we ask to find yours.)
