The concept of the experimental redesign of Neil Gaiman’s children’s horror book Coraline is based on the idea of an unsaid ending and Coraline’s endless journey through this world and the world of the Other Mother. Through the symbolic circle, the door, as well as the typography and illustrations within and around it, we move through the journey/passage, just like Coraline. In addition to the symbolism of the circle, the black-and-white aesthetic and the blurriness of the illustrations communicate the constant presence of fog as something material (both metaphorically and literally), as well as the lies about the existence of those elements in the Other World, which is, in itself, a void.
