Sample Poem: Eros in Arrows

Ghassan Zaitoun

Dissonant between the realms of love,
It wore me all out, and wore me–a glove,
Firmament to a world that stood no chance,
And through the blood in my hands, he lent me his hand.

Birth and renewal is a passion that orbits,
A fatal concept, a façade of sorbate,
The will of a man is an Eros to fire-
-an Eros in Arrows, a heart in desire.

Bleeding to me’s my sole communication,
And to me, scars are bournes to love’s transmutation,
Arrows in arrows, and Eros in Arrows,
Man is a slave, and love—his Pharoah.
