Social Media Marketing Strategy for SAAS Companies

You know that social media is a great tool for selling your software. You have tried it and failed (or you're failing) at it.
You know what social media marketing is and you only want to know how to drive results.
Do you agree with me that there's no problem without a solution? I mean, many SAAS companies are killing it with social media.
In this article, we will see how you can practically generate leads and drive sales with social media.

How To Create a workable social media marketing strategy

You want to generate leads that would become loyal clients and this takes process and time.
So, don't expect that you will blow up immediately and generate billions in revenue just immediately.

Be very clear on your business goals

Many CMOs and decision-maker decision-makers have a clear understanding of the Company's goals. We have seen this in our free consultations and it is a major stumbling block.
Your company's goals should be very clear and specific. The number of signups for a free trial, sales, free consultations, etc do you want to achieve within a period?
After you have discovered this, you can create a strategy to use social media to achieve those goals.
NB: your social media market was birthed from your business goals

Create a detailed buyer persona

In our free consultations, we always ask our clients for a detailed buyer persona for their audience. It woulsurprisese you to know that many people just have an idea of their personas, not detailed ones.
Here's an example: we had a client, a SAAS company that sells video editing software. This company had both free and paid versions. We (AWECHU) had to draw out a detailed buyer persona
Their target audience is content creators, video editors, e-commerce and all physical product brands.
Among these target audiences, are small content creators and business owners.
During the consultation, we discovered that small content creators and businesses could not afford to pay for a video editing software. They’d rather use AI or smaller free video editing apps.
In conclusion, the company had 2 categories of audiences - those who could not afford the paid version and those who could. This is just a part of the result of the audience research we conducted.

Use the right messaging for different audiences and platforms

After crafting the buyer personas, we chose the platforms where the people were - LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and TikTok.
We conducted extensive audience research to understand how their customers interact with video editing software.
Next up, we found out the social media platforms they used.
Don't forget to conduct thorough audience and market research to understand your audience, their language, and behavior. After that, tend to them in ways suitable.
NB: You shouldn’t assume, all your decisions should be backed by research

Social Media Ads

Think of running social media ads as paying a platform (Meta for example) to put your product in front of your target audience.
Social media ads drives generate leads and drive sales faster than growing organically.
Ads help you to target you target your audience, and know their buying behavior easily.
But don't pour money into ads randomly – track your performance data closely. See which ads are having good results and which ones are failing. Use this data to determine your ad spend, adjust target options and edit your ads when necessary.

Influencer Marketing

Not everybody who has a large following online is an influencer. Only work with those who have built an online community of people who trust them.
Collaborate with influencers instead of leaving the work for them. Share ideas, co-create content and communicate properly. Use their audiences to create brand awareness, generate sales, and run campaigns.
Make sure the influencers use storytelling to introduce your brand in a very natural way.
Influencers can help you increase your social media following and if people already trust these influencers, they will easily trust you.
NB: only collaborate with influencers in your niche

Provide good customer support

Reply to and engage with your audience in the comment section and DMs. Answer questions and respond to issues regarding the usage of your products.
Make your social media platforms a home for your audiences. This would give you good reviews in a short time and make new customers trust you.
This should be reflected too in your case studies. It should be detailed, showing your successes and testimonials, the things that set you apart. Many clients read the case studies of SAAS companies before purchasing a tool or software
