Today we are pleased to provide you with everything that you need to know about esports apps. In our list of the top 10 best esports apps you will find everything there is to know about mobile esports and esports games, which even includes some of our favorite games too. With so many games to talk about, let's get right into all of the best esports apps!
1 - Clash Royale
Starting off with one of our favorite games on the list we have Clash Royale, which is arguably the best esports app. You will often find people streaming this game on the twitch mobile app. What is ironic about this game is the fact that it is actually a sequel in a series of games. The original game here was Clash of Clans which is just as popular, but is not an esports app.
We, like many others, consider Clash Royale to be the best esports app, because of its fast paced style of play. This is exactly what made it more popular than Clash of Clans! If you don't know much about the game, it is a card game that also involves defensive strategy. You are fighting your opponent with cards that you select, so it is both a deck building game and an offensive strategy game.
If you're still confused about why this is the best esports app, then allow us to explain. There is actually a professionalisms league, one of the largest esports leagues, that has over 40 different teams. These teams participate in some of the biggest tournaments in all of esports. When they are not playing in these tournaments, you can spend time watching their live streams on your mobile device. Although this may seem like a new game to you, it is actually in the top of our list of both the 5 best esports apps and the 10 best esports apps.
2 - PUBG
Even though this game may be a lot more popular amongst your friends than Clash Royale, it is actually only second on our list. It is up there with Fortnite, which actually came after this game was invented, but don't worry, we'll get there. This is often another game that you will find on the twitch app, with streamers playing it since it is one of the best battle royale games around. It just also happens to be one of the oldest ones, so fans are more accustomed to it.
When it comes to esports specifically, only the mobile version of the game can be played competitively. As long as you are playing it on either an Android or on iOS devices, then you can compete on the esports level for this game. So if you only play on PC, then you are going to have to purchase a separate platform. Right now the esports realm has tournaments all around the world for this game already in place. There are tournaments on every continent besides Antarctica, Australia, and Africa. What makes these tournaments different from the rest is the fact that they offer large monetary prizes for the top players of each tournament. Esports is really beginning to grow when it comes to garnering attention on an International level, good thing you have us for everything esports.
3 - Honor of Kings
Continuing with our mobile game trend we have yet another esports app. This time it is none other than Honor of Kings, which you may know as Arena of Valor. Either way this esports app has been a massive success around the world, where it first began in Asia. In fact, it is such a large success that many people have tried to copy the game's mechanics and gameplay for their own likeness.
This game is centered around using different classes of heroes to fight each other. It is similar in nature to that of Clash Royale where you get to build your own deck of heroes to fight with. The only thing here is that the game does not have as big of a following, at least when it comes to twitch. This may be thanks to the limited use of media to those in China, but that is far outside our expertise. Regardless, Honor of Kings is another great mobile app that you can start playing today.
4 - Fortnite
A game that needs little to no introduction at all, Fortnite. This game has captivated players around the world within the last year and has lead to record amounts of views from competition to competition. It has also held host to some of the largest esports tournaments that have ever occurred. The biggest one included a Fortnite world championship in which a sixteen year old boy won three million dollars from winning the event.
What also makes this game great is that you can play it on both your PC and your phone if you would like. You can even do both if you want to play with multiple people at the same time! There have been plenty of times where my family and I have all sat down in the living room and teamed up on this game to take down the world as a squad. Even though I am nowhere near as good as a professional Fortnite player, it is still a ton of fun.
5 - Shadowverse
Up next on our list we have none other than Shadowverse which is another popular mobile app that you can start playing right away. It is quite similar to Hearthstone, with the difference that this game focuses on the mobile version more than the PC version. In fact, I don't even know if there is a PC version, because of how popular the mobile game is. When it comes to the style of play, this is yet again a trading card game which is a dominate genre of esports gaming.
As previously mentioned, this game does a good job of mirroring already existing popular games like the card game Magic: The Gathering. Although the main difference here is that this game focuses on several classes to choose from, each with their own dark anime theme. What makes this game more popular than Hearthstone and others, is the fact that it involves a more serious tone and the classes are unique from one another.
When it comes to esports specifically, this game has many different tournaments each year, which includes a million dollar tournament. That is certainly enough to get someone playing the game that has never heard of it before.
6 - Summoners War
What makes this game different from the rest is the fact that it is a roleplaying strategy game rather than a mobile card game like most others on this list. From the get go, this game is different when you build a town, even though that is a small part of the game. Then you work towards collecting an army of monsters that are going to help you battle against other players online. As you can imagine, this is a game with a heavy player versus player focus, which is why it grabs so much attention.
As for the esports part of the game there is actually yet another world championship for this game. There is also something known as the Americas Cup which serves as an international competitor for the western half of the world. If you make it to the World Finals then you have won yourself a trip to South Korea and the potential to win a hefty sum of money.
7 - Vainglory
Moving onto our next popular esports game we have Vainglory which is widely considered to be a one of a kind game. That's until it began a whole new genre of games which is know well known amongst everyone at home. It is one of the most popular esports games around, because of its long tenure and assistance in starting a new genre. Its popularity also comes from its quick and flashy gameplay that holds the attention of players and spectators alike.
When thinking of esports it is important to understand that there have been Vainglory leagues around the world since esports has been a thing. It has been at least five years since Vainglory professional leagues were established. They are the most common in North America, Asia, and Europe. Now this game is only in the seventh spot on our list, because it is pretty average compared to most games now. It is no longer that unique in the grand scheme of things, because many players have moved onto other games instead. We still have hope for this game though.
8 - Auto Chess
Although the name of this game may first strike you as some sort of invigorating chess battle, it is actually far from it. The board is really the only thing that makes this game feel like chess, because besides the board is is another stereotypical monster battling game. Don't let this simplicity fool you, because there is some deep strategy that is involved that you will not be able to see with a quick glance. So in some ways it does mirror chess, with this strategy being one of the main ways that you can tell a good player from a bad player, or a great one from a good one.
Esports is really popular amongst this game simply because of the large amounts of money that you can win while playing this game. For these large prizes alone, this game is going to be sticking around the esports world for many, many years. It's just a unique crossover of two popular genres, chess and monsters, so where can you go wrong?
9 - Mobile Legends
As the name suggests this is another mobile app that is popular in the esports world. What makes this game special is its five versus five battles that are similar to other games such as League of Legends. This gives players a fun way to play, especially since it is a quick mobile game rather than a PC game that takes hours to play. What also makes this game a great fit is the fact that it falls under a genre that is perfect for esports. It is a fast paced game with lots of fighting, so what is there not to love, right?
Even though this game is a great fit for esports, the only problem is that it is not worldwide yet. In other words, it is just getting started on its esports journey, but it does have a lot of potential. What also makes it special is the fact that the developers are steadily working towards the direction of esports, so the game is a perfect fit from the inside out. There are not many games, let alone mobile apps, that often work hand in hand with esports. This gives Mobile Legends a lot of potential, even though it is not necessarily popular, just yet.
10 - Teamfight Tactics
Last but not least we have Teamfight Tactics which is really just a unique game. Since it sits in a category like none other, we have played it conservative and have put it on the bottom of our list. It is similar to Auto Chess that we discussed above with how it generated a new genre of mobile apps. This game is also a unique combination of gameplay and strategy with a hint of battle royale. You may wonder how this game uses battle royale features, but that is a secret that you will have to figure out for yourself.
As for esports, the only thing this app has going for it, is the fact that its developer, Riot Games, has been a part of the esports realm for years. Since they are not really in the world of esports just yet we have left them at the bottom of our list.
We hope you have enjoyed this list of top ten esports apps for PC and mobile, and we suggest you try them out today!
