Where It Started 🔎

I used to skateboard when I was younger, and the biggest issue I had wasn't dealing with the boys laughing at me as I fell down the ramp or the one rock in the street that send me flying off my board. It was finding a board that I liked in the first place.

Problem & Solution 🤝

Fast forward about 12 years, and I picked up my old board for the first time. But I just liked it. I didn't love it, and I realized never really did love it. I started researching different brands, and nothing really stood out to me. Nothing had pastels and cute logos, it was all skulls and hot pink and what seemed like sporting brands think girls want. So I made my own brand.

When I started on this project, I wanted to do three things: • Make something I loved. • Make it easy to replicate. • Make it easy to brand.

Process 🛣

The colors were the first things to come from the brand in this case, since that was my whole issue. I knew I wanted pastels, something softer than hot pinks and electric blues, and everything just fell into place after that. Once I found the lighter shade of orange, I knew exactly where the brand was going.

I did end up sketching a few other element ideas, then decided these elements should have their own themes and colors because, let's face it, not everyone likes orange. So I kept the logo simple and easy to recreate using different shapes.

Results 🎁

In the end, I made a brand that I think would go over well in the real world. Besides skateboards, there's room for apparel, accessories, and even shoes to fit within the world of Peachy.

Takeaways 📣

In the end, I think I would go a little farther next time. The elements I created work really well for what I needed, but as far as wordmarks and logo designs, I think I could've done both a little more and a little less. Instead of settling on one design and running with it, I'd try a couple more out. But the beauty of this brand is that as long as the rules are followed, you can design whatever you want.
