Overview
GEARZ Cyber-Detective is a cyberpunk training simulator prototype built around story-driven OSINT practice. It brings fictional investigations, simulated tools, and progression into an interface designed for hands-on learning.
The problem
Cybersecurity concepts can be difficult to connect to hands-on practice without a contained investigation scenario. This project explores a fictional case-based environment where learners can revisit missions and see their progress.
Solution
A story-driven training interface connects Case Archives, Competitive Rankings, and a Progress Overview. The original screenshots show fictional investigations, difficulty labels, replay controls, scores, XP, seasonal rankings, and completed-mission indicators.
Core workflow
The archived interface presents three parts of the learning loop:
Browse Case Archives to review fictional investigations, compare difficulty, and revisit missions. The screen shows a 25-case structure.
Review Competitive Rankings for in-app XP and seasonal progress.
Check the Progress Overview for level, completed missions, and performance indicators.
Scope/limitations
This is a prototype learning environment with fictional scenarios and simulated tools. The genuine product screenshots document the training interface and progression experience. Visible scores are in-app indicators, not measured real-world security outcomes or evidence of learning effectiveness.
Tools
Replit for the prototype. The project source is available in the CyberpunkDetective repository on GitHub.
