As a student, I was motivated to improve the exam preparation process for myself and my peers. To achieve this goal, I delved into the intricacies of constructing a web document reader using Python. I spent countless hours learning about the complexities of this process and worked hard to transform my knowledge into a practical application.

The result was a sophisticated Django web application that provided students with access to past exam questions and their answers. Initially, the platform was designed for recreational use, but as I continued to use it throughout my academic journey, I realized its practical value in helping me prepare for exams.

Monetization

With this in mind, I decided to make the platform accessible to other students at my school. Over time, the platform gained popularity, attracting over 500 students, and I recognized the need to make it sustainable. To achieve this, I introduced a pricing model that allowed students to purchase a pin to gain access to past exam questions and their answers.

The pin was valid for two uses and allowed unrestricted access for a two-hour window each time the site was accessed. This move transformed the platform from a personal project into a widely-used academic resource, providing students with a valuable tool to help them prepare for exams.



Working with AI



While exploring ways to enhance our platform, I stumbled upon the transformative potential of AI. This discovery led me to investigate the possibilities that AI can bring to the user experience. Recognizing its capacity to provide more comprehensive answers to user queries, I decided to integrate AI into our platform.



To achieve this, I chose to leverage OpenAI within our Django web application. I made this decision to harness the cutting-edge capabilities of OpenAI to improve our support mechanisms.



During the implementation process, I identified a significant challenge faced by many students studying non-English courses - the language barrier. This realization fueled the conception of a groundbreaking feature aimed at facilitating language conversion. The goal was to empower students to translate content into their language of preference effortlessly. This would help dismantle language barriers and create a more inclusive and effective learning environment.



The amalgamation of AI-driven improvements and language conversion features marked a significant stride towards a more advanced and user-centric educational platform.
