What the hell is going on in the house of Lo-fi girl?

If she has one million fans, t’s us. If she has ten fans, t’s us. If she has one fan, it’s us. If she has no fans, we are dead.

Atthis point in the film, all of us are fully aware of the popularity of lo-fimusic. For everyone else who could have just landed on a foreign planet, lo-fimusic comes from the low-fidelity term. By this, we mean music with alow-quality record, that cloaks said genre with an undetachable nostalgicemotion. Generally, this genre has no lyrics and it is a top-tier choice forthose who need constant auditive stimuli without distracting voices. For thisspecific reason, it is highly favored for people with anxiety in public placesor those who need concentration to study or work. It quickly became thebackground soundtrack of our lives, growing into a calming-colored upheavedpiped elevator music. Need to wash your dishes but don’t want to? Lo-fi musicand romanticize your life. This type of music was mostly popularized onYouTube, where creators designed videos with anime illustrations or loop gifsto create a visual background for the music itself, two characteristics wereneeded: to be attractive enough to incite users to click but not be compellingenough to distract them. Exceptin between all of these amazing creators, one stands up: Lo-fi Girl. Thisstudying anime character and her cat have been streaming live on YouTube sinceMarch 2015, reaching more than 1.5 billion views and 10 million subscribers.
Asit was mentioned before, this has been the same since March 2015, but it hasrecently changed and after a long discussion in 2022 about YouTube copyrightpolicy, fans feared the worst. On 7April 2023, fans reported, for the first time, a change in the illustration: lo-fiGirl looked out her window, staring at a small blue light in the oppositebuilding. That same day a new stream started: an undisturbed noiseless, blueroom. With a very special detail: a countdown clock to 11th April 2023.Fans got mental and Twitter started to ignite itself. But who can blame them?Even if you weren’t a regular, you could have heard about the consistentstudent lo-fi Girl.
Suddenly,on 10th April 2023, she was no longer there. Usersgot astonished: What was happening? Was she leaving? Did she end school? Wasshe moving apartments? What the hell was going on? At the same time as herdisappearance, the video started to slowly zoom in. Towardsthat mysterious blue window on the other side.
Finally,on 11 April at 5:00 PM GMT, it was possible to see a familiar blue room. A newcharacter entered the chat: a guy arriving home with his puppy who calmly wentto his pc and started to type on it, headset on, and sleepy puppy in thebackground. Just as we like. After a few minutes, the shot goes again to ourdearest lo-fi girl. A second livestream was then opened on the channel, andSynth Boy is introduced to all of us. The audience iscalmer momentarily as well as a new object of the cult has risen. Whileeveryone is discussing how a brilliant launch this has been (and indeed, itwas) I have to admit that the response of lo-fi Girl to Synth Boy’s entrancehas given me inner peace: she has been studying for years endlessly, still inthe end, she is one of us: easy to distract with something interesting on theother side of the windows and a little nosy. Ultimately, lo-fi girl had neverbeen so human before.
