Lima House: Crafting a Suburban Oasis

For my personal portfolio, I simulated a project with Pietro Terlizzi Arquitetura, a well-known firm based in São Paulo recognized for modern designs that embrace nature. This project envisioned transforming a suburban backyard in Lima, Brazil, into a luxurious oasis, capturing the firm’s signature blend of sleek architecture and tropical elements.

The design showcases seamless indoor-outdoor living, using natural materials and lush greenery to create a relaxing retreat. It reflects the potential to turn an ordinary backyard into an extraordinary space, where modern aesthetics meet Brazil's vibrant landscape.

Our simulated client aimed to create a suburban oasis in Lima, Brazil, inspired by the legendary Roberto Burle Marx. Known for his organic curves and harmony with nature, Marx’s influence guided a modernist reimagining of a traditional backyard, turning it into a luxurious retreat.

This project went beyond aesthetics, emphasizing how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living. It showcased the potential to create a tranquil escape in suburban settings, where each element—from the pool to the lush greenery—was carefully designed for a seamless, serene experience.

Our journey started with the Collection Phase, where we gathered all the client’s information, including floorplans, elevations, location details, furniture preferences, and materials. With this data, we began accurately recreating the envisioned space, focusing first on replicating the provided plans and layout.

In the Rough Design Phase, we meticulously modeled the site from the drawings, capturing each detail. We then added furniture and custom elements to shape the exterior according to the client’s vision. At this stage, the design remained in greyscale, with accurate lighting and shadows previewing the final look. We also set up various camera angles for the client to select, giving a clear sense of the project’s development.

During the Finalization Phase, materials, textures, and colors were added to bring the space to life. As we refined the design, client feedback guided adjustments for a polished result. Medium-resolution renders allowed for final review, leading to the creation of high-resolution images for the client’s use. This entire process, from collection to final render, was completed within a week, demonstrating our focus on quality and efficiency.

The house is a modern marvel, with expansive windows filling the interior with natural light and making it feel open and inviting. The warm brick and wood contrast beautifully with sleek glass elements, while large sliding doors erase the boundary between indoors and outdoors ideal for warm summer nights under the stars.
