Top 3 books to read to get into the spooky fall season.
As the season changes and the temperature drops. The leaves turn into bright reds, oranges, and yellows and you just can’t help but curl up on the couch with my oversized sweater and fuzzy socks cozied up with a blanket and a perfect spooky season book. (Bonus points if you have a fireplace).
But how to decide what that perfect spooky season book is? Not to worry, I have solved that problem for you! Here, I have compiled the top 3 best books for October that will put you in the spooky season mood. From witches to murder mystery you will surely find a book in this list that suits your preference.

Did you know that this movie starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman was actually based on a book. No? Well, it is! And this book is better than the movie. As with any book to movie adaptation there are details that get lost in the translation. Now you can find those details!
Practical Magic is a fan favorite tale about two orphaned witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens who get taken in by their eccentric and even more witch-y aunts. A book about family, magic, and maybe an ex-boyfriend ghost.
This book is a perfect easy read for the autumn season. It beautifully combines witchy magic, with New England fall, and a blood is thicker than water sisterly bond that I aspire to have. And it’s actually a series!

If you’re searching for more of a Hallmark movie meets magic and an enemies to lovers romance. Let me tell you this is the book for you! I couldn’t put this book down. Really, I read it in 2 days and that’s only because I started it before work. As a fan of enemies to lovers Vivienne Jones and Rhys Penhallow had sexual tension you could cut through with a knife, and banter that made me snort.
Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones was left broken-hearted by Rhys Penhallow and like any other brokenhearted girl treated her wounds with liquor and as a joke with her cousin cursed her ex-boyfriend Rhys. Vivienne comes to learn the importance of never mixing alcohol with magic when Rhys comes back to town and the magic in Graves Glen starts to go wonky.
The Ex Hex was the perfect mix of magic, romance, and the best seasonal vibes.

A more psychological mystery that leaves you in suspense with the classic “Who done it?” plot line and sprinkle in children on the playground psychology and hierarchy, that’s this book. Everyone is a suspect and everyone has a motive. From love triangles to drugs to sibling rivalry you never truly know what (or who) is lurking in the shadows in this story.
Set in London, England a new family moves into a tight knit community with their home which is overlooking Virginia Park, the communal park, in hopes for a new safer future for Pip and Grace. That hope of a safe future comes to a crashing halt when Pip finds her sister Grace bleeding and unconscious in the park. Who did it? Was it who they were running from? Or worse, was it a friend from the playground.
This book mixes different narratives and timelines to establish an eerie story that really makes you consider who your neighbors really are.
So there you have it, the top 3 books you need to read for the fall if you're trying to get into the vibes of pumpkins, witch hats, and chilly spooky who's lurking around the corner. If you read any of these make sure to comment below your favorite OR if you've read these already what's your favorite fall/autumn/spooky books?
