What I did
I researched current labor market data from federal and independent sources, identified the key economic indicators (unemployment rate, hiring rate, average job-search duration) that best supported the argument, and structured the piece to move from problem to evidence to solution to counterargument. I addressed the disproportionate impact on Black workers and women as a distinct section rather than a footnote, then built three concrete, fundable policy recommendations, targeted job creation, workforce development, and expanded unemployment benefits. Also pre-empted the two most likely objections (cost, political disagreement) with direct rebuttals grounded in the same data.
