Our team at Filmit.xyz was engaged by Kyndryl to create a standalone mini-documentary centered on Kari, a key leader within the organization. The video aimed to highlight Kari’s journey of growth, resilience, and leadership. With a focus on her personal challenges, this mini-documentary explores how Kari has continuously achieved success for Kyndryl’s clients, embodying both personal and professional strength.

The primary objective of this project was to provide clients, internal employees, and stakeholders with an authentic glimpse into the life and leadership approach of one of Kyndryl's most valued executives. Kari’s story not only reinforces Kyndryl’s brand values but also serves as a motivational piece for viewers. We sought to capture Kari’s journey, balancing her accomplishments within the company with the personal challenges she faced along the way. The video showcases a true story of resilience, positioning Kari as a relatable leader who exemplifies the brand’s commitment to innovation, empathy, and client success.

Given the significance of the project, our team took on full responsibility for all aspects of production, from planning and logistics to booking a studio and managing the set. The pre-production phase included detailed discussions with Kari and the Kyndryl team to ensure we understood her story and how to align it with Kyndryl’s brand narrative. We meticulously developed a storyboard that would capture the essence of Kari’s journey, highlighting her experiences in a way that would resonate with Kyndryl’s clients and team members.

In crafting the narrative, we focused on three main elements:

Personal Strength: Emphasizing Kari’s resilience in the face of personal challenges, showing her dedication beyond the workplace.

Brand Alignment: Ensuring that the themes in Kari’s story reflected Kyndryl’s values, providing viewers with an authentic connection to the brand.

The filming process was held in a studio space that provided a controlled environment, allowing us to focus entirely on lighting, framing, and sound quality. We used high-end cinema equipment, including the RED V-RAPTOR, to capture the crisp, cinematic visuals that would align with Kyndryl’s brand image. Lighting was carefully designed to create a warm, inviting ambiance that would visually support the story’s tone, highlighting Kari’s personality and fostering a sense of closeness with the audience.

Our filming approach aimed to keep the interview candid and conversational. This allowed Kari to share her journey openly, making the narrative feel genuine and personal. To capture her story with depth and authenticity, we focused on close-up shots that conveyed emotion, paired with dynamic framing that illustrated her influence within Kyndryl.

The production team worked to maintain a seamless and supportive environment, encouraging Kari to share stories of her personal and professional life. In post-production, we enhanced the visual and emotional tone of the mini-documentary. The editing process included color grading, sound mixing, and the integration of supporting graphics that subtly conveyed Kyndryl’s brand without detracting from Kari’s personal story. We paid careful attention to pacing, allowing Kari’s insights to flow naturally while maintaining viewer engagement.

Key techniques in editing included:

Color Grading: A warm and cinematic grade was applied, creating a polished and approachable look.

Sound Design: Light background music and sound adjustments helped maintain an inviting, contemplative tone.

Graphics Integration: Brand-aligned visuals were added sparingly to emphasize Kyndryl’s role without overshadowing Kari’s story.

One of the main challenges was finding a balance between Kari’s personal narrative and Kyndryl’s corporate values. To achieve this, we focused on Kari’s leadership qualities that aligned directly with Kyndryl’s brand while also giving space for her to reflect on her own life experiences. This blend of personal and professional content created a balanced story that felt relevant to both Kyndryl’s internal team and clients.

Additionally, capturing a story of resilience and growth required sensitivity in both directing and editing. Our approach allowed Kari to be vulnerable yet empowered, highlighting her as an authentic and inspiring leader.
