Digital Fashion Animation Project

(Traditional Dress)

It depicts a virtual runway scene with a clothed avatar walking in high detail. The garment was created in Marvellous Designer using traditional sewing-pattern methods, giving it realistic drape and movement through physics-based simulation. Custom prints by textile designer Laiba Lon were integrated into the fabric:

Workflow Highlights:

Pattern & Simulation: Clothing patterns were designed and tested in Marvellous Designer for accurate clothing.
Animation Rigging: The character was rigged and animated using Mixamo’s library of mocap walk cycles, ensuring a smooth, natural catwalk
Model & Scene Build: The 3D model and environment were assembled in Blender, utilising its comprehensive toolset for modelling and rigging.
Texturing: Adobe Substance 3D Painter was used to paint and layer realistic fabrics and materials. Adobe Photoshop complemented this by editing Laiba Lon’s prints and preparing them for seamless.
Post-Production: The animated footage was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro to fine-tune timing, add subtle effects, and produce the final.
