OpsPilot AI — Independent Portfolio Project
Role: AI Automation & Workflow Developer
I built OpsPilot AI to demonstrate how incoming business requests can move through controlled, traceable automation.
The workflow
A fictional damaged-order message is classified and converted into structured business facts. Deterministic rules set priority and department routing, create an internal task, and prepare an AI-assisted response draft. Execution pauses for human review. Approval resumes the same workflow; rejection prevents the response action.
Reliability and visibility
The visual execution view exposes workflow nodes, validated outputs, timestamps, and attempt history. A controlled failure scenario demonstrates explicit retry and recovery with the same execution retained. An audit trail connects intake, interpretation, routing, approval, and completion.
Implementation
The implementation includes server-side OpenAI integration, structured-output validation, persisted workflow state, and API/webhook architecture. The public demo deliberately uses a fallback AI provider.

Scope and boundaries
This is independent portfolio work with fictional data. All external actions are simulated; email, Slack, and CRM accounts are not connected. No paying customers, client results, revenue impact, company adoption, or enterprise production deployment is claimed.
AI Request Understanding — classification, structured extraction, and deterministic priority/department routing.
Visual Workflow Execution — eleven-step orchestration with inspectable outputs and a human approval pause.
Human Approval — review or edit the draft, approve to resume, or reject to prevent the simulated action.
Controlled Failure / Retry — intentional simulated-action failure and explicit retry with attempt history.
Recovery — the same execution completes after retry; failed and completed attempts remain traceable.
Audit Trail — correlated workflow, approval, action, and failure events.
Integrations — OpenAI/API architecture and demo adapters; email, Slack, and CRM accounts are not connected.
