Family App: a private, Arabic-first app for extended families
I designed and prototyped a mobile-first, right-to-left web app that helps large Arab families stay organized in one private space.
The problem: family records, events and news live in scattered WhatsApp groups, and nobody has one reliable list of members or relations.
What I defined and designed:
- Members directory with Arabic search and city filter
- Interactive family tree (zoom, pan, multiple wives, deceased members)
- Join requests with admin approval, and roles for members and admins
- Per-member privacy controls for phone and photo
- News, announcements and events with RSVPs and Hijri dates
My role: product owner. I wrote the requirements, user flows and phased roadmap, and built the prototype plan with Next.js, Supabase and Vercel.
Status: prototype stage. Looking for a first family to pilot it.
