Experimenting with some data visualization. But the only data needing visualized today is Fridata.

So, I've been working on a motion system recently. I wanted to create a fully automated easing graph. It took a bunch of trial and error but I was able to figure it out. Now I can animate the bezier handles on screen and the path travel will mimic the easing. Then of course I had to apply it to my favorite winter olympic sport.

I’ve been feeling a bit of creative block lately. When that happens I like to sit down and scribble. Sometimes it turns out ok, other times it’s just a mess.

Experimenting with the Cavalry web player. There is so much potential. I’m really excited to see how it develops. There are definitely still some bugs. I spent several hours trying to get my font to load. Unfortunately I could not get it in the end.

Still toying around with fragmented images. The JavaScript is still not where I want it to create a perfectly procedural approach. Had to slice these in photoshop to achieve the effect I am after.

I think everyone is searching for connection. Using @Cavalry's procedural workflow, I was able to create this quickly and with no keyframes. This would be incredibly time consuming with traditional software.

Working to create a sketchy kind of look. Didn’t get to exactly where I wanted, but got some nice results on the way.

Sometimes things are just hiding in plain sight. Using background blur filter to create this glassmorphism effect. There is something just soothing about this one.

Instead of a short experiment, I focused on creating a more complete piece.
My hope is to keep adding work like this into my posting rhythm.I started running several years ago. Over time, it completely changed me.

Sometimes you fall backwards into something good. I didn’t know what I wanted to make, so I just started messing around. That’s the beauty of Cavalry, its procedural nature lets you tinker, iterate, and stumble into ideas you didn’t plan for.

I started working with Cavalry a few months ago. It has quickly become my go to motion design tool. Its speed and procedural nature allow me to create things that would’ve taken a considerable amount of time with other methods.

I don't know if this ages me or not. Do you remember those little plastic slider puzzles? A grid of plastic squares with one open spot. You could slide them around trying to descramble the image. That was the inspiration for this piece. I wanted to create the same thing. I knew that with Cavalry's duplicator system there had to be a way to achieve the look I was going for. It took some work to figure out how to manipulate each index independently of the others. Once I figured it out, I was able to achieve the look I was going for. This is the result.
