The ultimate trailer workflow doesn’t exist,
so I built my own.
Great conversations need intense energetic weight to survive a modern social media feed. When cutting the trailer for Jason Davis’s "Shedlife NZ", workflow efficiency was just as important as the final pacing.
To get the absolute best out of my toolkit, I decided to bridge two different worlds for this project.
Today, I’m sharing the breakdown of the final preview clip alongside a look at my dual-timeline setup:
The Precision Text Engine (Premiere Pro): I handled the core word-by-word captions and rigorous dialogue trimming inside Premiere Pro.
This is where the structural rhythm is built, stacking up precise text layers to ensure the message hits without losing a millisecond of momentum.
The Style & Audio Engine (CapCut): I brought the edit over to leverage fluid transitions and layer in a heavy sound design matrix. This is where I built out a cinematic atmosphere with tactical risers, deep impacts, and fluid visual overlays.
The outcome?
A highly technical, hybrid workflow that transforms raw podcast footage into an incredibly engaging, fast-paced cinematic trailer.
