Hi everyone! 👋 Want to hang out at the park? 🌳⚽️🌻🏈🐩 I created Parkhang for the #ConfigMakeathon. It exists to make it easier to plan real-life hangs at local parks. Playdates, pickup sports, and picnics—come hang at the park! *The inspiration* I'm a dad of two young kids so we basically live at the playground. It's a great way for kids to meet new friends and me to connect with fellow parents. But a tragic thing happened when a violent crime took place at our usual park. The community was devastated, kids were scared, and my wife and I got extra resolved to show up as the grown ups in the room—and to activate our neighbors to do the same. Our first monthly pizza night happened 1 week after the crime. Kids need grown ups to set a culture of peace, freedom, and fun in our playgrounds. Whether parents with kids in the playground area or folks playing pickup basketball or tennis, we all get to enjoy the park together and help it to be a safe and fun place for all! But there's a problem I noticed. *The problem* Ever shown up to the park and nobody's there? No kids to play with, shooting goals solo, hitting your tennis ball against the wall. Way less fun, no? But at the same time, parks are great because anyone can just drop in, maybe meet someone new, or maybe connect with a new group to do tai chi or Zumba with (or whatever you're into). How do we make it easy to organize activities while maintaining the "just drop in" feel of the park? This is what I tried to capture in Parkhang. *What it does* Parkhang helps you: 1. Create a profile and tag your favorite park activities (like soccer, picnics, board games, running, or kids' playdates) 2. Follow your favorite parks and playgrounds 3. Post activities in your park to invite neighbors to hang 4. Be notified of posts in your favorite playgrounds that align with your favorite activities That's the core of it, but other functionality is pending, such as connecting with friends and being notified of their Parkhang posts. *How I used Figma* Figma Make did the heavy lifting with building this prototype, and then I used Figma MCP and the exported code to build out the actual app in Codex. I'm currently building it out for mobile and web as a React app and hope to release a beta for testing soon. *What's next?* I'll keep polishing, building, and gauging interest! If this strikes your fancy, please join the waitlist (https://parkhang.com/)and share it. And I'd love your comments on the video (https://www.tella.tv/video/vid_cmqihmcgd000a0bjgcz2k6c36/view) for any feedback if you can spare a moment! Thanks all!
