🚀 Day 5 of My 40-Day Creator Challenge! Another day, another opportunity to grow as a designer. My goal is still the same: gain 500 followers and connect with 5 new design clients by consistently sharing my work, what I've learned, and the experiences that have shaped my career. Today I wanted to share a branding project I really enjoyed working on for Bon Pergola. One of the things I love most about branding is that it goes far beyond creating a logo. Every choice—from the typography and colors to the overall visual direction—has to support the story a company wants to tell. For Bon Pergola, I wanted the brand to communicate quality craftsmanship, professionalism, and a premium outdoor living experience while remaining clean, memorable, and versatile across different marketing materials. My process always starts with learning about the business first. I spend time understanding who they're trying to reach, what makes them different, and how their visual identity can help them stand out. From there, I begin exploring concepts, refining ideas, and building a complete identity that feels intentional instead of simply looking good. Projects like this have made me a much stronger graphic designer because they've taught me to think strategically rather than just creatively. It's easy to make something attractive, but it's much harder—and much more rewarding—to create work that solves problems, builds trust, and helps a business grow. Every branding project reminds me that great design is about more than software. It's about listening, asking the right questions, understanding people, and creating visuals that leave a lasting impression. I'm grateful for every opportunity that helps me continue improving my craft, and I'm excited to keep sharing more of that journey throughout this challenge. I'd love to hear from you—what's one project that's had the biggest impact on your growth? 🚀 Day 4 of my 40-Day Creator Challenge! Every successful freelance project starts long before the design process—it starts with trust. Today I'm sharing an example of my new commission proposal, the same type of document I use to help clients understand exactly what they're getting before we begin working together. As a freelance designer, I've learned that transparency is one of the most valuable things you can offer your clients. A clear proposal outlines the scope of work, timelines, deliverables, revisions, pricing, and expectations from day one. That means no hidden fees, no surprises, and no confusion. Building trust from the very beginning creates stronger relationships, smoother projects, and often leads to long-term clients who come back again and again. In my experience, this foundation is one of the biggest keys to lasting success as a freelancer. Whether you're hiring a designer or building your own creative business, clear communication and honesty will always set you apart. If you'd like to see more behind-the-scenes insights into freelancing, branding, and graphic design, follow along as I continue my 40-day journey toward (500 new followers and 5 new design clients) 💼 Portfolio: BurgeStudios.com (http://BurgeStudios.com)#GraphicDesign #FreelanceDesigner #Branding #CreativeBusiness #SmallBusiness #LogoDesign #DesignProcess #ClientExperience #CreativeEntrepreneur #Transparency #BusinessTips #AdobeCreativeCloud #DesignerLife #Freelancing #BurgeStudios #CreatorChallenge

🚀 Day 3 of My 40-Day Creator Challenge! The journey continues. My goal is simple but ambitious: gain 500 followers and connect with 5 new design clients by consistently sharing valuable insights, practical advice, and an honest look into life as a freelance graphic designer. Today's post is a little different. Instead of a design tutorial, I'm sharing a self-motivation speech that I recorded for myself—and for every creative who's questioned whether they still have a place in today's AI-driven world. Artificial intelligence is changing the creative industry faster than ever. It's easy to wonder if designers, illustrators, and artists will be replaced. I've had those thoughts too. But I've realized something important: AI is a tool. Creativity is still human. Clients don't just hire software—they hire people who can understand their vision, solve problems, tell compelling stories, build memorable brands, and create work that connects emotionally with an audience. This video is about staying motivated, continuing to learn, adapting to new technology, and refusing to let fear stop you from creating. The artists who succeed won't necessarily be the ones who resist change—they'll be the ones who embrace it while continuing to develop their unique creative voice. If you're a freelancer, designer, artist, or entrepreneur navigating this new landscape, I hope this message encourages you to keep pushing forward. Every day is another opportunity to improve your craft, build your brand, and create something meaningful. I'd love to hear your perspective: How has AI changed the way you create or run your business? Let's start a conversation and grow together. Cheers! – Ken Burge #GraphicDesign #FreelanceDesigner #CreativeJourney #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #BrandDesign #CreativeCommunity #DesignThinking #CreativeBusiness #Freelancing #PersonalBrand #Contra #CreatorChallenge #GraphicDesigner #Motivation

Recently, I was struck by how beautiful and surreal Los Angeles street art can be. On my way to a rock concert a couple of weeks ago, I came across this incredible skeleton mural that immediately grabbed my attention. The piece had this perfect balance of grit, character, and storytelling that only street art seems to capture. Inspired by that moment, I decided to create my own interpretation and put my own artistic spin on it. After several hours of sketching, refining, and adding details, this piece is nearly complete. It's always fascinating how inspiration can appear when you least expect it and evolve into something entirely your own. Thoughts on my direction so far? I'd love to hear any feedback. #GraphicDesigner #Illustrator #DigitalArt #CharacterDesign #StreetArt #CreativeProcess #ArtistOnContra #ContraCreator #FreelanceDesigner #VisualDesign #ArtworkInProgress #GraphicDesignCommunity #IllustrationArt #DigitalIllustration #CreativeInspiration #BrandDesigner #DesignLife #ArtistCommunity #CustomArtwork #DesignPortfolio

Recently finished these branding logos and assets for Skate Wild, a skate camp company focused on providing memorable experiences for teens with their favorite pro skaters. I fell in love immediately with doing these by hand then transferring them to vector. Something about the mechanical aspect of working with a pencil again brought some nostalgia earlier in my career. Please leave a comment and tell me which one you like best or any advice you’d give. I’m all ears no judgement 👌🏻
