How do you design a trolley to tilt a 200 kg drum with controlled movement?
This drum tilting trolley concept combines a supporting cradle, pivoting linkages, and twin cylinders to guide the drum through its tilting motion.
The design challenge goes beyond lifting the weight. As the drum tilts, its centre of gravity shifts, changing the forces on the frame, pivots, and cylinders.
Key design considerations:
• Supporting and retaining the drum throughout the movement.
• Selecting pivot positions and cylinder mounting geometry.
• Maintaining stability as the load shifts.
• Providing a wheeled base for positioning.
