During college, I served as the Managing Editor of a student-run literary magazine, and it was one of the most rewarding creative and leadership experiences I’ve had. In this role, I oversaw the development of the magazine from the ground up, working with a team of 12 to bring together a diverse and engaging collection of creative work. I was responsible for sourcing and curating submissions across multiple genres, including poetry, songs, creative nonfiction, fiction, and visual art. I loved getting to read through such a wide range of voices and perspectives, and carefully selecting pieces that would come together to form a cohesive and impactful publication. Beyond editorial work, I also designed the full layout of the magazine and compiled the final manuscript, ensuring that both the visual presentation and content felt polished and intentional. Managing a team while balancing creative direction taught me so much about collaboration, communication, and maintaining a clear vision from start to finish. This project really highlights my strengths in editing, organization, and creative direction, as well as my ability to lead a team and produce a fully realized publication.

Cover image for Poetry has always been a
Poetry has always been a huge part of my writing, so winning First Place in the Spring Contest hosted by the Hoosier Poetry Society was incredibly meaningful to me. It felt like such a rewarding moment to have my work recognized in a space dedicated to celebrating creativity and voice. I write poetry regularly, often focusing on emotion, imagery, and capturing moments in a way that feels both personal and relatable. This award-winning piece reflects my style as a poet—thoughtful, expressive, and intentional with language. This experience not only strengthened my confidence as a writer, but also reinforced my passion for poetry and storytelling in all forms. It’s something I continue to grow and experiment with, and a creative outlet that deeply influences my work across other projects.

Cover image for Destiny is a dystopian novel
Destiny is a dystopian novel I wrote and independently brought to life from start to finish—and it’s a project that means so much to me. The story follows Maylie Banner as she begins a new life training for her country’s military… a place she was never supposed to be. All while hiding a secret that wouldn’t just get her removed—but could cost her everything. I’ve always loved stories that mix high-stakes tension with personal identity, and with Destiny, I really wanted to create something that felt immersive, emotional, and impossible to put down. It’s written for readers in their 20s–30s (and young adults who love dystopian worlds), blending intense training, hidden truths, and the constant pull between fate and choice. This was a fully independent project for me—I handled everything from writing and editing to self-publishing and cover design. Being able to shape every detail, both in the story and visually, allowed me to create a final product that feels cohesive, intentional, and true to the world I imagined. More than anything, Destiny reflects my passion for storytelling and my ability to take an idea from concept to a fully realized, polished novel.

Cover image for This is a novella I
This is a novella I created entirely on my own, and it’s a project I’m incredibly proud of. It’s a mystery/thriller centered on a young woman whose obsession with fame slowly consumes her—so much so that she doesn’t realize her relationship is taking a dangerous turn until it’s too late. I love exploring complex characters and darker themes, and with this piece I aimed to balance emotional depth with a suspenseful, twist-driven plot that keeps readers hooked. It’s written with a 20s–30s audience in mind, blending relatability with tension and intrigue. I managed every stage of this project, from writing and developmental editing to line editing and full cover design. Being able to bring the story to life visually as well as narratively was one of my favorite parts, and it allowed me to create a final product that feels cohesive, intentional, and market-ready. This project really highlights my strengths as a writer and editor—strong storytelling, attention to detail, and the ability to take an idea from concept to a fully polished, finished piece.
