Cliff Young — AI Documentary (8 min) An 8-minute documentary on Cliff Young — the 61-year-old farmer who won Australia's Sydney–Melbourne ultramarathon in 1983, in overalls and rubber gumboots, against sponsored professional athletes. No usable archival footage exists. The entire film was reconstructed in AI, with Cliff recreated as a consistent character across the full runtime — the way an actor plays a real person in a biopic, not stock imagery. Directed end to end: shot design, a desaturated cool grade held until the final act, Cliff's signature asymmetric shuffling gait carried consistently shot to shot, and a cold open built on rain and footsteps before any face is shown. The challenge this piece answers: maintaining a real person as a coherent character across dozens of AI-generated shots, in a documentary register that reads as cinema rather than generation.
