Cover image for Peer-reviewed research published in Proceedings
Peer-reviewed research published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) demonstrating severe declines in native mammal populations associated with the spread of invasive Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades. Led field data collection, analysis, and manuscript development as part of a long-term ecological research program. This work has been widely cited and covered in major media outlets, contributing to national awareness of invasive species impacts.

As lead author of Invasive Pythons in the United States: Ecology of an Introduced Predator (University of Georgia Press), I worked with my colleague and synthesized emerging research on one of the most consequential wildlife invasions in North America. The book integrates field data, ecological theory, and management implications to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment of python impacts on native ecosystems. I led the development, structure, and narrative of the manuscript, translating complex and often fragmented research into a clear, authoritative, and cohesive volume. This work demonstrates my ability to shape technically complex, interdisciplinary material into publication-ready writing that is both scientifically rigorous and accessible to a broad audience, including researchers, managers, policymakers, and informed general readers.

Cover image for As lead author of Frogs
As lead author of Frogs & Toads of the Southeast (University of Georgia Press), I headed up the development of a comprehensive, accessible guide covering more than 40 frogs and toads in one of North America’s most biodiverse regions. The book synthesizes scientific research, species ecology, and conservation insights into clear, engaging content for a broad audience, supported by extensive photography and distribution mapping. I led the organization, writing, and narrative structure of the book, translating complex biological concepts into material that is both scientifically rigorous and accessible to naturalists, students, and professionals alike. This work demonstrates my ability to bridge high-level science and public-facing communication—delivering clarity, accuracy, and strong narrative flow in long-form, publication-quality writing.

Cover image for As lead author on this
As lead author on this Biological Conservation publication, I investigated long-term population declines in diamondback terrapins, drawing on over two decades of mark–recapture data. The study provided rare, quantitative evidence linking crab trap bycatch to shifts in population size, age structure, and sex ratios. I led the development of the manuscript, integrating complex longitudinal data into a clear, cohesive narrative suitable for a high-impact conservation journal. This work demonstrates my ability to structure and communicate technically complex findings while preserving scientific rigor and clarity for publication-ready results.
