I almost didn't post this. Not because it's bad. Because it's personal. There's no client name attached. No brand guidelines I followed. No Slack thread with 47 rounds of feedback. Just me, a blank canvas, and a feeling I couldn't explain in words. So I designed it instead. Here's something nobody warns you about when you become a designer: the more client work you take on, the further you drift from the reason you started. You get good at solving other people's problems. You forget what your own creative voice sounds like. This piece brought it back. I sat down with zero expectations. No moodboard. No Pinterest tab with 200 pins. I just started moving shapes, pulling colors, trusting my gut. And somewhere between the third iteration and the fifth coffee, something clicked. It felt like the first time I ever opened a design tool and thought, "I could do this forever." If you're a creative who hasn't made something purely for yourself in a while, this is your sign. When I realized that video editing was never about adding flashy motion graphics or complex 3D animations... ...that just changed my whole perspective of editing. The art films that Christopher Nolan creates also have the most amazing VFX and CGI; look at Interstellar for instance. It created one of the most realistic space atmosphere I have ever seen. And yet, the appreciation of how the story was narrated overwhelms anything that the film provides. And how the story was narrated? Through edit. Not the VFX or heavy motion graphic edit. The "cut" edit. As simple as it sounds, one wrong cut can collapse an entire film's storyline and therefore, spoil the script and years spent on shooting it in an instant. This is where our films differ from AI videos. Ability of an AI generating human-like features and deceiving 3D environments is definitely astonishing. But, have you noticed their "cuts" though?

Flooring Supply Store. Contractor Reel. Contest Submission. Raw smartphone footage. A forklift is loading bulk flooring. No lighting, no script — just shaky job site clips. My job was to make it stop a contractor mid-scroll. Cut the dead air. Built the whole story through text overlays, because contractors watch on mute. Found a track that matched the forklift energy without overselling it. Closed with a clean CTA. One idea drove the whole edit—speak like a contractor thinks, not like a retail ad.

My client had no idea how to bring his eBook promo to life. He just sent me the script and said, "Do your magic." The catch — it was entirely in French, and I don't speak a word of it. Translated every line, sourced copyright-free visuals, and built the whole thing from scratch — Reel aspect ratio, color grading, motion blur, lens flares, smooth transitions, dynamic text animations, 3D motion graphics, strategic pacing, and sound design to tie it all together.
