Project Description:
DSPNstudio is my portfolio, and it's the one project where I get to be both client and designer. After ten years across branding, packaging, and digital work, I wanted a site that shows range without reading like a scattered résumé. So I rebuilt it in using Squarespace's new Finish Layer tools: motion on scroll, motion on hover, a cursor that reacts to you. The question I kept asking while building it was simple: does this feel like the work, or does it just describe the work? Every animation on the site is there to answer yes.
Finish Layer features used:
Block Animations: the hero GIFs scale in on load and follow your cursor as you move. On the second section, two lines of copy enter from opposite sides and meet in the middle as you scroll, and the footer title scrolls up from the bottom so it's the last thing you see.
Block Transforms: two colored text blocks rotated and overlapped into a ribbon effect under the About section, plus three image cards rotated into a fan formation for the Art in the World section, animated individually on hover.
Stacks: used to group and align the hero and About page text blocks so the layout holds up across screen sizes.
Font Uploads: Even though Squarespace has a vast selection of fonts to be creative with, sometimes you have something specific in mind, so I used custom Font upload.
Custom CSS (bonus, not Finish Layer): custom circle cursor with CSS Code.
Public access: yes, no password required
