Back in my motion graphics course, we had an assignment that focused on the intersection of type and motion. How could we tell a story, with appropriate inflections, anticipation, and pacing, by animating with type only? We were given a document of several color swatches, each with a brief origin story. I chose to animate the story of the color "Isabelline," yes, due to my namesake, and also because the story was hilarious. It's interesting how this story is really experienced differently when the type is animated versus when it's in a flat paragraph. To tell the story, I used Isabelline as the background, with colors of dirt (brown), stink (putrid green), and orange (the color of her hair). Isabelline: the color of dirt.
