Shipping a feature in 15 minutes is not a flex. I don’t care what your title says. We didn’t change the process. We changed the language. A programming language was the tool. Prompts are the tool now. Same thing, different package. The thinking that has to happen before you touch either one hasn’t changed. At all. But somehow that’s the part everyone decided to skip. Conception. Architecture. Sitting with a problem long enough to actually understand it before writing a single line. That used to be the job. Now it’s the obstacle between you and the LinkedIn post about how fast you shipped. A prompt doesn’t know your system. It doesn’t know what came before, what depends on what, what quietly breaks when you touch the wrong thing. You do. Or you should. Because when it breaks ( and it probably will ) you’ll open the codebase, stare at it, and have nothing. No mental model. No memory of the decisions that were made. Just output you copy pasted into production and called engineering. The craft didn’t die. You just stopped respecting it. Either learn it or leave the door open for the people who did. #SoftwareEngineering #BuildInPublic
