Day 15/30 — Halfway Through My Freelancing Challenge! 🚀
15 days of showing up, learning, and trying to build my freelance career.
One thing I've realized:
Building a portfolio and building a freelance business are two completely different challenges.
Designing a landing page takes creativity and technical skills.
Finding clients requires something else:
Understanding what businesses actually need
Communicating the value of your work
Building trust before asking for a project
Staying consistent even when outreach doesn't get replies
I've been reaching out to potential clients, exploring freelance opportunities, and improving how I approach landing-page design.
No paid client yet, but I'm learning what it takes to get there.
My focus for the next 15 days: Less random outreach, more relevant conversations, and stronger portfolio case studies.
Halfway there. Still building. 💻

"building a portfolio and building a freelance business are two completely different challenges" is such a true line. what kind of outreach have you been doing so far, email or dms?

Honestly both😅. I have sent almost 150+ emails and also on twitter i have DM people but not on that level, just focusing on building connections and trying to apply through sending replies to hiring post. I would love to know what's your approach towards outreach and finding...

for me it's one specific problem per business. i pick ones whose site has something clearly off, like no way to book from a phone, and the email is just that one thing plus a yes or no question. no portfolio link in the first one. out of the 150, how many got any reply at all?

I only got 2-3 reply and they also say we will let you know whenever we got project. And thats a good approach u follows but i struggle to find these type of sites and businesses. Btw for how long u have been in freelancing? and how do u landed your first client? u make full websites or landing pages?
