About a month ago, we got a project inquiry that turned into one of the biggest reminders of why extra effort matters.
At 11:00 PM, while me and my work parner were still at the office, a client approached us with an requirement to redesign their mobile app, add new features, and quickly create a demo screen for evaluation.
The client also told us something important:
“I’ve given the same task to 4 other designers as well. I’ll continue with the one whose work stands out the most.”
Most designers would stop after delivering one screen.
We didn’t.
We started researching the product deeply, understanding the existing flow, identifying weak points, and exploring better UX directions.
By 2:00 AM, we had already completed one solid redesigned Home screen with proper research behind it.
Then we realized something:
A single design concept is rarely enough for a client to confidently choose a direction.
So instead of stopping there, we pushed harder.
We researched more ideas, explored different UI approaches, and continued working until 5:00 AM.
By the end, we delivered:
↳ 3 different demo concepts
↳ 3 unique design directions
↳ Multiple UX approaches for the same problem
We sent everything to the client and finally went home to sleep.
The next day, we got a positive response.
After a few revisions and discussions, we were officially hired for the project.
Big lesson from this experience: If a client asks for a demo, don’t just send one option and hope it works.
Give them choices.
Help them compare directions.
Help them visualize possibilities.
Because clients often don’t know what they want until they see multiple strong options side by side.
That extra effort is what separates average designers from professionals clients trust.
