When I’m handed a new project, I don’t immediately start working on it.
First, I want to understand how it’s supposed to move.
What are we starting with?
What needs to happen first?
Who needs to be involved?
What happens after that?
Where could things get stuck?
And most importantly, what does “done” actually look like?
So I usually take the project from A → Z before I start moving things around.
Not because I want to overcomplicate the work.
It actually helps me simplify it.
Once I can see the whole journey, it becomes easier to know what needs to happen, what can be delegated, what can be automated, and where I need to stay involved.
That’s basically how I use process mapping.
I’m not mapping processes just to have a pretty flowchart.
I’m trying to understand how the work actually moves so I can make it easier to move.
That’s usually where I start when I’m brought into a new project.
