One thing I was reminded of over the past few weeks..
The best hires almost never come from the most obvious search results.
These days, everyone has access to the same AI tools, LinkedIn searches, and sourcing platforms. That's not the advantage anymore.
The real advantage is knowing how to spot someone who's going to be exceptional. Even if their resume doesn't check every box.
Some of the best engineers I've hired came from adjacent industries, unconventional backgrounds, or projects that told a much better story than their list of keywords suggested.
AI has made sourcing faster, which is great. But it hasn't replaced experience, technical judgment, or the ability to see potential where other people don't.
That's still where the best hires come from.
Curious if other founders and recruiters are seeing the same thing.

Just like AI, soon we will be made to believe it's not AI anymore, it's SI. Something more advanced.
But the same way AI lacks a soul, so will SI.
Mastering the tool is good. Selling it as a replacement for humans is just hype.
Be at the top of your game. Build connections, do your own research and planning, and keep finding ways to improve.
It's not that AI is bad. I always wanted something to handle the boring tasks, so I could do the work I love. Not something that takes over the work I love, and botches that too.
P.S. This is a 4-second shot I made in 2023 for Paramount Students. I just added the labels AI and SI on top, and see how perfectly it fits, picturing another ERA OF HYPE SELLING!
