How to tell if your website is actually working or just existing
A website that is live is not the same as a website that is working. The difference is whether it is doing anything useful for your business between the moments you think about it.
Here are a few honest questions worth asking.
When someone lands on your site, can they tell within ten seconds what you do, who it is for, and what to do next? If the answer requires scrolling, clicking, or reading carefully, the site is making visitors work for information they should receive immediately.
Do you send people to your site with confidence, or do you find yourself explaining it when you share the link? If you're adding context every time you send someone to your site, the site isn't carrying its weight.
Are you getting inquiries from people who already understand what you offer and are ready to have a real conversation? Or are you spending the first part of every call explaining things that should have been clear from the site?
Does your site reflect your business as it exists today: your current services, your current clients, your current pricing range? Or does it describe a version of your business from two or three years ago?
None of these questions require analytics or technical knowledge. They require honesty about whether the site is doing the job it exists to do.
If the answers are uncomfortable, that is useful information.
