What I Built: DesiMeal AI
I built DesiMeal AI, a localized, dark-mode web application designed to act as an intelligent kitchen companion and pantry manager for the Pakistani market. The platform features an interactive "Fridge Check" inventory system where users can select ingredients they already have on hand (such as potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, onions, and spices) to instantly generate traditional, step-by-step Pakistani recipes like Aloo Gosht, Chicken Karahi, and Aloo Chicken Tehri. It also includes automated prep-time indicators, spice-level tags, estimated PKR pricing, and an integrated smart grocery checklist that compiles missing ingredients on the fly.
Why I Built It:
Solving a Relatability Problem: Every household faces the daily dilemma of "aaj khane mein kya banega?" (what should we cook today?). I wanted to build a tool that eliminates guesswork and reduces food waste by creating meals out of whatever is left sitting in the fridge.
Hyper-Local Context: Most global recipe apps fail to cater to local Pakistani cooking styles, ingredients, or currency values. By integrating traditional desi dishes and local PKR cost estimates, the app provides immediate, real-world utility.
Showcasing Full-Stack UI/UX Standards: As part of my ongoing portfolio development for the #LovableChallenge, I wanted to demonstrate how modern AI-driven tools can feature cinematic loading states, smooth transitions, and high-end glassmorphism dark-mode aesthetics while solving practical, everyday problems.
