There's a trip you keep meaning to take. A person you keep meaning to call. A version of your life you assume you'll get around to — later, when things settle down.
We all do this. We treat time like it's infinite, because the alternative is uncomfortable to look at. "Someday" stretches out in front of us, soft and endless, so we move the things that matter into it. There's no rush. There's always next year.
But almost none of us actually know how much time we're working with. We picture "the rest of my life" as a vague, generous cloud — we've never seen it counted out.
The Rest of My Time counts it out. You enter your birthday and the age you want to reach, and it shows you the time in between — not as a warning, but as a picture of what's still yours, and a prompt to actually plan it.
The design challenge
My first versions were dark, accurate, and awful. Nobody opens an app that makes them feel like sand running out of an hourglass. So the core of the design work wasn't the interface; it was reframing the exact same numbers to point at possibility instead of loss.
Most products fight for your time. This one tries to give it back to you — by making the invisible visible, so you can stop saving your life for later.
