The call that changed how I think about AI voice agents.
I was reviewing a call recording for a client a real estate business running our Vapi AI agent on inbound leads.
A prospect called asking about a property. Standard stuff. The agent handled it clean.
Then the prospect said: "Actually, I'm not sure I'm ready to buy. My wife and I are still deciding."
The agent didn't push. Didn't read from a script. It said something like: "That makes sense it's a big decision. Can I ask what's holding you back most right now?"
The prospect opened up. Gave 4 minutes of real objection data. The agent acknowledged each one, offered relevant information, and suggested a low-pressure follow-up call.
That prospect booked an appointment three days later.
No human was on that call. No human wrote that response.
The agent was doing what a great salesperson does — listening, adapting, and creating space.
That's when I stopped thinking of AI voice as a cost-saving tool. It's a revenue tool.
