Shopify is ending script tags. From 1 Oct 2026, apps can't create or update them. From 1 Mar 2027, Shopify will stop loading them on your store.
Apps that don't update will quietly stop: reviews, pop-ups, WhatsApp buttons, tracking.
Simple check: message every app that shows something on your store and ask, "Do you use script tags? Will you update before 1 March?" No clear answer? Replace the app.

Good flag, worth checking order confirmation and shipping emails too, some apps inject tracking pixels there via script tag as well, not just the storefront. The clean replacement path for most of these is the Web Pixels API for tracking and Theme App Extensions for anything...
Absolutely. The order confirmation and shipping emails are easy to overlook, especially when auditing older apps. Web Pixels API and Theme App Extensions are definitely the cleaner path for replacing those legacy script-tag dependencies.
