A push notification model usually breaks in one of two ways: a second phone stops receiving anything, or notifications keep arriving for the account that just signed out. Both come from storing one push address per user. Store one row per app installation instead, with the user ID as a field, and someone with a phone and a tablet has two rows that a single query returns.
The sign-out half has an ordering trap. Delete the installation row while the user is still signed in, then call signOut. A security rule that compares the row owner to the signed-in user refuses the delete once there is no user left to compare against, and the device keeps pointing at the previous account.
The full write-up covers the Firestore rules, the Flutter registration listener, a server cleanup that handles both unregistered error codes, and an acceptance sequence to run on two test installations.
Great technical breakdown! Handling multi-device FCM tokens and secure sign-out correctly is essential for reliable push notifications. I appreciate the focus on both architecture and real-world edge cases. 👏
Introducing KODEPALM, Understand the Code. Trace the Problem. Own the Solution.
KODEPALM is an AI-powered code comprehension and debugging workspace built with Base44, designed to help developers understand unfamiliar code, investigate bugs, and learn from every solution.
I built KODEPALM because debugging shouldn't be limited to finding an error and copying a suggested fix. Developers should also understand why something went wrong, how a solution works, and how to prevent similar issues.
What makes KODEPALM different?
🔹 AI Code Analysis: Analyse code across programming languages, identify potential bugs, trace likely execution paths, and receive source-specific explanations.
🔹 Debug Journey: A structured five-stage experience, Inspect, Trace, Repair, Verify, and Learn that guides developers through understanding and resolving problems.
🔹 Palm AI: A context-aware coding companion that answers follow-up questions, explains complex concepts, and explores alternative solutions without requiring developers to repeat their code.
🔹 Saved Investigations: Preserve findings, suggested repairs, verification progress, and learning history to continue investigations later.
🔹 Developer-Friendly Learning: Explanations tailored to different experience levels, practical verification checklists, and interactive knowledge checks.
🔹 Desktop and Mobile: A responsive workspace that makes code comprehension and debugging accessible across devices.
KODEPALM doesn't execute submitted code or pretend that AI-generated recommendations have been verified. Instead, it helps developers investigate problems, make informed decisions, and manually validate their solutions.
We research and build learning technology at the frontier of AI, so that anyone, anywhere, can learn from the best teacher there has ever been.
