A Better Way to Edit Short Form Videos
Good editing is not about adding more effects. It is about making every second serve a purpose.
Here are a few things I have found make a real difference in short form content:
1. Start with the strongest moment Do not spend the first few seconds warming up. Give viewers a reason to keep watching immediately.
2. Edit for clarity Remove unnecessary pauses, repeated words, and moments that slow the message down.
3. Let visuals support the story B roll, screen recordings, graphics, and subtle movement should help explain the message, not distract from it.
4. Treat captions as part of the design Good captions should be easy to read and guide attention toward the important words.
5. Use sound with purpose Music and sound effects can add energy, but they should support the content rather than overpower it.
The best edits often feel simple because the editor has already removed everything that does not need to be there.
